John Raoul Gaston

Brother of Dad's Father, Paul Robert de Gaston

My Dad's only brother and sibling (unless it proves true that a Chinese girl was adopted), John Raoul, who was about 1 year older.  He founded an electric company building motors, which he ran during WWII also, thus contributing to the war effort, unlike Dad.

John's wife, Catherine, whom Dad visited in the summer of 1967 or 1968, at her Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, home.  John had divorced her, and then by then had passed away.  I met some of their children, namely Bonnie, John R., Jr., and another daughter.

Dad took this picture of the gravestone of Dad's Grandmother, Anna Marie (name is anglisized to Mary, in America...after all!) and of Uncle John.   This is the Evergreen Cemetary, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  Grandmother Anna Marie Hermann Bach de Gaston was born in Basel, Switerland of German parents, one from Elberfeldt and the other from Barmen (now incorporated into the city of Wuppertal (on the Wupper River).
